Who is Starfire?

Princess Koriand'r of the planet Tamaran was captured and enslaved by the brutal alien Citadel, enduring experimentation that unlocked her ability to absorb ultraviolet radiation and project it as devastating energy blasts. Escaping to Earth, she became a founding member of the New Teen Titans.

Few characters have lit up the DC Universe quite like Starfire, who blazed onto the scene in DC Comics Presents #26 in 1980, courtesy of the legendary creative team of Marv Wolfman and George PΓ©rez. A true Bronze Age icon, she emerged as one of the defining figures of that era's most celebrated comics, racking up 432 catalog appearances across an extraordinary 46-year span that stretches all the way to 2026. Her adventures unfold most vividly across The New Teen Titans, Titans, and even the delightful Tiny Titans, and she shares the page with some of DC's finest β€” Dick Grayson, Garfield Logan, Victor Stone, and Green Lantern among them. With 18 key issues to her name, Starfire isn't just a beloved character β€” she's a cornerstone of DC history that any serious collector should have on their radar.

Trivia

  • Uniquely among major DC heroes, her ability to absorb language and social behavior through physical contact wasn't just a one-off quirk β€” it was a recurring gimmick that actively shaped her speech, defined her early stories, and set her apart from virtually every other character in the team-book landscape.screenrant.com
  • Marv Wolfman has written more of Starfire's comics than any other writer in our catalog β€” 100 issues.
