“Planet of Monsters!”

Hawkman #12 (July 1987) throws the winged heroes straight into the jaws of chaos — literally. The cover by Richard Howell and Bruce Patterson depicts Hawkman and Hawkwoman caught between two colossal creatures, a snarling green beast and a massive dark monster, with the cover copy asking the urgent question: "Will the Hawks Be Monster Mashed?" Titling the interior story "Planet of Monsters!" DC makes no secret that this issue is all about scaled-up, otherworldly menace bearing down on the Hawk duo in spectacular fashion.
