Superman #12
From John Byrne and Karl Kesel's celebrated 1987 run comes Superman #12, a tender departure from the usual action-packed fare. The cover, penciled and inked by Byrne, shows Clark Kent in civilian clothes gently lifting a laughing young woman in a wheelchair, the two of them surrounded by floating Superman shields and pastel hearts — a warm, romantically charged image that perfectly sets the mood for the "Lost Love" story within. It's a charming and surprisingly intimate issue that highlights the human side of the Man of Steel.
