“A Pretty Girl Is Like a-- Maladi!”

Among the most dramatic covers George Pérez produced for this series, issue #18 drops readers straight into a scene of betrayal and chaos — a green-costumed figure looms menacingly over a fallen, red-haired Starfire while Robin demands answers and Kid Flash races in from behind, with Wonder Girl's lasso arcing through the air above the rubble. The cover banner announces the return of the original Starfire, and the threatening exchange between Robin and this apparent turncoat sets a genuinely tense tone for what's inside. Marv Wolfman and Pérez were firing on all cylinders in 1982, and this issue looks every bit the part.
