The New Teen Titans launched in November 1980 under writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez, with Len Wein serving as editor and Mike W. Barr as associate editor. Wolfman and Pérez collaborated so closely on plots — meeting regularly to work out stories together — that both received shared plotting credits throughout the run, and issue #10 carries that joint plot credit alongside Wolfman's script. Both creators initially expected the series to last only around six issues given DC's poor sales environment at the time, making the sustained narrative complexity of multi-issue threads like the Promethium/Doom Patrol saga all the more remarkable as evidence of growing editorial confidence in the title.
