New Teen Titans #6 ('Last Kill!', April 1981) serves as the dramatic payoff of the very first Trigon arc, concluding the opening mythology of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez's series just six issues in — a run that, despite the creators' own doubts about its survival, went on to become DC's best-selling title of the 1980s. The issue delivers the first full appearance and origin of Arella (Angela Roth), Raven's tragic human mother, a character whose backstory cemented the moral and emotional weight that separated the Wolfman–Pérez Titans from every teen-hero book that came before it. By sealing Trigon in an interdimensional prison at the cost of Arella's freedom — she sacrifices herself to become the eternal guardian of the portal — the story set a template of genuinely consequential storytelling that would define the series for years. The story was later singled out as representative enough of the team's entire five-decade history to be reprinted in DC's 50th-anniversary Teen Titans celebration volume.

The issue was written by Marv Wolfman and penciled by George Pérez, with guest inker Pablo Marcos stepping in for regular inker Romeo Tanghal; Adrienne Roy provided colors, John Costanza lettered, and Len Wein edited under managing editor Joe Orlando. Wolfman and Pérez had plotted the series collaboratively from the start — once Pérez relocated near Wolfman they would work out stories together over lunch — and both creators later admitted they never expected the book to outlast its first half-dozen issues. The on-sale date recorded by the Grand Comics Database is January 8, 1981, with an April 1981 cover date, placing its release squarely in the book's remarkable early momentum.

Concludes the first Trigon story arc begun in issues #4–5; Trigon is defeated and sealed in the Netherverse by the combined effort of the Titans, with Arella sacrificing herself to become the eternal guardian of the dimensional gate.
The climactic plan involves Cyborg channeling a power bolt through Starfire (Koriand'r) against Trigon, while Kid Flash (Wally West) opens the dimensional portal — an unusual use of his speed power that even the DC Database acknowledges is never fully explained in-story.
