Impulse
Bart Allen is the grandson of Barry Allen (the second Flash), born in the 30th century with an uncontrollable hyperaccelerated metabolism that aged him dangerously fast. Raised in a virtual-reality environment to keep pace with his rapid growth, he was eventually brought back to the present day, where Wally West helped stabilize his speed and he adopted the name Impulse.
Few characters have burst onto the DC scene with quite the infectious energy of Impulse, who first lit up the pages of Flash #92 in 1994, courtesy of the brilliant creative team of Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo. Born from the Copper/Modern Age, this speedster-adjacent dynamo quickly proved too big for a single title, headlining their own Impulse series while becoming a cornerstone of Young Justice — sharing wild adventures alongside the likes of The Flash, Robin, Batman, Superman, and Wally West. With over a century of catalog appearances, three collector-recognized key issues, and a publishing life stretching more than three decades, Impulse is no footnote — they're a genuine pillar of DC's modern era whose appeal clearly has no intention of slowing down.
