About the series
In the early '90s, DC launched The Darkstars, a 39-issue series that reimagined intergalactic peacekeeping through a gritty, militaristic lens. Created primarily by writers Michael Jan Friedman and Ron Marz, with art from Mike Collins, Travis Charest, and Mitch Byrd, the book followed a new corps of armored heroes—including Ferrin Colos, Mo Douglas, and Carla White—as they operated outside the Green Lantern Corps' authority. This series carved its own niche in DC's cosmic landscape, exploring the cost of power and duty without the safety net of the Guardians' power rings.
