McManus is perhaps most closely associated with DC's Vertigo line, where he contributed to the sprawling fantasy world of *Fables* and its spin-off titles. His work on *Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love* and *Cinderella: Fables Are Forever* showcased his ability to bring wit and visual personality to character-driven stories set within that universe, as did his contributions to *Fables: The Wolf Among Us*. Beyond Vertigo, he lent his draftsmanship to titles including *Doctor Fate*, *Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis*, and *The Omega Men*, demonstrating a comfortable range across superhero, fantasy, and adventure genres.

His style tends toward expressive character work and clean storytelling, qualities that made him a reliable and valued contributor to ensemble projects and solo character runs alike. Over the course of his career, McManus has built a reputation not on flash but on craft and durability — a working artist whose output has consistently served the stories he illustrates.
