Fables: The Wolf Among Us #15

This May 2016 Vertigo entry in the Fables spinoff series presents a deeply unsettling image courtesy of cover artist Chrissie Zullo: a looming, partially transformed wolf-man with bared fangs reaches enormous, long-clawed hands down toward a small, vulnerable woman trapped within what appears to be a circular, labyrinthine surface below him. The cool, desaturated palette — all shadow and dread — gives the composition an almost dreamlike menace that feels perfectly at home in the Fables universe. With writing from Matthew Sturges and Dave Justus and interior art from Eric Nguyen, Shawn McManus, and Travis Moore, this three-chapter installment keeps the series firing on all cylinders.
