Helmet of Fate: Detective Chimp #1

Part of DC's 2007 "Helmet of Fate" event, this one-shot puts the spotlight squarely on one of comics' most delightfully unlikely investigators. Brian Bolland's cover says it all: a chimp dressed in a Sherlockian deerstalker and tweed coat scrutinizes the golden Helmet of Fate through a magnifying glass, his expression all sharp-eyed suspicion — equal parts charming and surprisingly intense. Writer Bill Willingham and artist Shawn McManus take it from there with "The Case of the Massively Magical Monkey Mage," which sounds like exactly the kind of adventure only Detective Chimp could pull off.
