Mark Verheiden
Mark Verheiden, born March 26, 1956, is an American writer who has worked across comics, television, and film. He entered the industry in the late 1980s, quickly making his mark with a long run on Dark Horse Comics' *Aliens* series, where his tense, character-driven stories helped define the franchise's comic-book voice. He is perhaps best known for his work on DC's Superman titles, including *Superman* and *Superman/Batman*, often collaborating with artists like Ed McGuinness. Verheiden also co-created the series *The American* with artist Chris Warner. In television, he served as a co-executive producer on the TNT series *Falling Skies* and contributed to *Smallville*. His writing is noted for its efficient plotting and focus on moral dilemmas. Verheiden remains active, with credits spanning from 1987 to 2024, and his work on licensed properties has influenced how those characters are portrayed across media.
