Evil Dead #2

John Bolton's painted cover for this second chapter in Dark Horse's four-part Evil Dead series is genuinely unsettling — a snarling, bloodied deadite face dominates the frame, its head engulfed in a burst of flame against a blood-red sky. Bolton's painterly style gives the horror a visceral, almost cinematic weight that feels right at home with Sam Raimi's source material. Writer Mark Verheiden continues his adaptation here, and if this 2008 cover is any indication, the darkness inside is turned up plenty high.
