Evil Dead #3

Face-to-face with pure terror, Ash screams in desperate struggle as a rotting, decay-ravaged Deadite lunges at him on John Bolton's viscerally painted cover for this third chapter of Dark Horse's four-part adaptation. Bolton's painted artwork captures the horror with an almost photorealistic intensity — bony claws clutching, hollow eyes gaping — that feels pulled straight from Sam Raimi's nightmarish vision. Mark Verheiden's script brings these classic characters to comics form, and with only one issue remaining after this, the tension couldn't be wound any tighter.
