Dark Horse's patriotic anti-hero series continues with issue #7, "The Reality Part 1," and Grant Miehm's cover sets a tense, street-level tone — the American looms large in his blue-and-white star-spangled costume, fist raised, while a frightened, glasses-wearing civilian cowers on the pavement clutching a gun. The composition puts readers right in the middle of a charged confrontation, with gritty brick walls bathed in deep shadow adding real menace to the scene. Mark Verheiden and Miehm were crafting one of 1988's more grounded superhero titles, and this issue looks to push that moral complexity further.
