Dark Horse brings Sam Raimi's horror universe to comics with this first chapter of a four-part adaptation, written by Mark Verheiden with painted cover art by John Bolton. The cover sets an immediately unsettling tone: a young man in a blue shirt crouches warily in what appears to be a dimly lit cabin interior, while a mass of grotesque, decomposing deadite faces crowd the bottom of the image beneath him. It's a genuinely atmospheric piece of horror illustration that captures the dread of the source material without resorting to cheap shock tactics.
