Superman / Batman #32

Part five of "The Enemies Among Us" arrives with a cover that makes an immediate impression: a figure in Superman's costume crackles with eerie orange lightning across a darkened, almost alien body, eyes blazing with unearthly energy, while Batman is hoisted helplessly over one shoulder. Phil Jimenez's pencils and Andy Lanning's inks give the image a visceral intensity — something has gone terribly wrong with the World's Finest team. Mark Verheiden's story, brought to life by artist Matthew Clark, promises that whatever threat has taken hold in 2007's DC universe, Superman and Batman are at the very center of it.
