Jeff Matsuda
Jeff Matsuda, born in 1970, is an American animator, concept artist, and comic book artist best known for his bold, stylized character designs on the animated series *Jackie Chan Adventures* and *The Batman*. He also serves as president and creative director of X-Ray Kid Studios. Matsuda broke into comics after submitting *Wildcats* sample pages to Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Studios and Jim Lee’s Wildstorm; his first published work—a drawing of the X-Force character Cable—appeared in the letter art section of *Wizard Magazine*. His professional comics career spans 1993 to 2022, with credits on 65 issues, most notably *X-Factor*, *Wolverine*, *NewMen*, *Kaboom*, *The Batman TV Comic*, and *DC versus Marvel*. Matsuda’s style—clean, dynamic, and influenced by both manga and American animation—made him a sought-after collaborator, and his work on *The Batman* helped define the look of a new generation of DC animated heroes. Later in his career, he continued to blend comics and animation, leaving a lasting mark on how superheroes are visualized across media.
