Buffy the Vampire Slayer #22
Part two of "The Blood of Carthage" arrives with a cover that makes an immediate impression — a massive, glowing-eyed demon looms in shadow over three figures who stand their ground below, one wielding what appears to be a flaming artifact while the others press close in solidarity. Jeff Matsuda's pencils and Jon Sibal's inks give the whole composition a satisfying tension between the sunlit, almost casual confidence of the trio and the brooding supernatural threat bearing down on them. Writer Christopher Golden and artist Cliff Richards continue this Dark Horse series in fine form, and this 2000 issue is a solid addition to any Buffy collection.
