Buffy the Vampire Slayer #18
Dark Horse's Buffy the Vampire Slayer #18 delivers a genuinely unsettling cover as the Slayer herself — eyes closed, seemingly unconscious or entranced — is gripped by a massive, grotesque creature with fanged jaws agape, while a horde of glowing-eyed demons lurks in the shadowy stone archway behind them. Cover pencils by Jeff Matsuda and inks by Jon Sibal give the scene a visceral energy that perfectly suits the eighth chapter of the "Bad Blood" arc, written by Andi Watson with interior art by Cliff Richards. If this image is any indication, Buffy's situation heading into this installment is about as dire as it gets.
