Evan Dorkin, born April 20, 1965, is an American cartoonist whose work occupies a distinctive corner of alternative comics — sharp, self-aware humor that simultaneously celebrates and skewers fan culture. Though clearly a devoted enthusiast himself, Dorkin has built a career out of examining fandom's more obsessive and absurd qualities with genuine wit.
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey #1 (1991)
He is best known for two comic book series: *Milk and Cheese*, featuring his memorably anarchic dairy-product antiheroes, and *Dork*, an anthology title that serves as the primary home for his *Eltingville* strip, which follows a group of deeply committed — and deeply insufferable — pop-culture devotees. His catalog is impressively broad, spanning over 150 credited issues between 1987 and 2025 across titles including *Bill & Ted's Excellent Comic Book*, *The Real Ghostbusters*, *Predator: Big Game*, and *Mad-Dog*.
Epic Lite #1 (1991)
Beyond print, Dorkin contributed writing to the Adult Swim animated series *Space Ghost Coast to Coast* from 1994 through 1999, and in 2002 developed an *Eltingville* animated pilot for the same network. The pilot demonstrated that his brand of fan-culture satire translated effectively to animation, even if it remained a one-off project.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Comic Book #1 (1991)
Across nearly four decades of work, Dorkin has remained one of comics' most consistent and recognizable voices in comedic, self-referential storytelling.
