Blackwood: The Mourning After #2

The second chapter of Blackwood: The Mourning After arrives from Dark Horse with a cover by Veronica Fish that sets a wonderfully eerie tone — a tall, suited figure in dark glasses stands coolly at center, a flame dancing in one outstretched hand and a cane gripped in the other, while behind him a skull-faced monster looms over fleeing figures on one side and a procession of robed silhouettes winds toward a moonlit building on the other. Occult sigils frame the whole composition, reinforcing the sense that Blackwood College is a place where the supernatural is very much part of the curriculum. Evan Dorkin's script, brought to vivid life by Veronica and Andy Fish with colors that pulse between deep midnight blues and fiery reds, makes this miniseries one of the more stylish supernatural offerings of 2020.
