The third issue of Blackwood: The Mourning After delivers one of the more unsettling cover compositions Dark Horse put out in 2020 — a central mirror framing a pallid, grinning disembodied face against a cosmic, star-filled void, surrounded by ornate pink-trimmed frames housing two more eerily smiling skulls and glimpses of deep space. Veronica Fish's cover art uses neon pinks, electric greens, and galactic blues to give the whole thing a psychedelic dread that feels genuinely otherworldly. With Evan Dorkin writing and Veronica and Andy Fish bringing the visuals to life inside, this series continues to blend occult unease with striking style.
