Blackwood #3

Evan Dorkin and Veronica & Andy Fish's occult Dark Horse series continues with this striking third issue, its warm golden cover dominated by a glowing-eyed, red-furred primate crouching menacingly above a chaotic pile of spell books, scattered tarot-like cards, chains, vials of inky liquid, and other arcane curiosities. The image has a wonderfully unsettling energy — equal parts eerie and darkly playful — that captures exactly the weird, witchy atmosphere Blackwood has been building. If you've been following this series through 2018, issue three looks like a fine moment to see things get properly strange.
