Blackwood: The Mourning After draws you back into its supernaturally charged world with a cover by Veronica Fish that's equal parts gorgeous and unsettling — four wary young students framed within an ivy-draped, cobwebbed doorway, a snarling gargoyle looming overhead and a pair of chained chimps clutching a forbidden-looking book below. Behind them, a moonlit gothic campus and an eerie glowing figure reflected in dark water hint at the strange forces these students are up against.
