Joe Kubert pulls triple duty as writer, artist, and inker on this 1969 DC Showcase spotlight featuring Firehair — a young Native American warrior standing defiantly alone at the far end of a gauntlet of armed, menacing figures. A taunting speech bubble — "You'll NEVER get through that gauntlet… ALIVE, Injun-Boy!" — and a fallen figure in the foreground make the stakes unmistakably clear before you even crack the cover.
