“Spider-Man: The New Status Quo!”

Spider-Man: The New Status Quo! kicks off a pivotal chapter in Peter Parker’s life as he struggles to balance his dual identity and find steady work—especially after Aunt May urges him to get a real job. On New Year’s Eve, a mugging by a man in a Spider-Man mask leads Peter straight into the FEAST building, where he unexpectedly finds Aunt May volunteering with Martin Li’s outreach program. Meanwhile, a desperate Peter turns to the Daily Bugle, only to confront a furious Jonah Jameson during a tense buyout crisis that takes a shocking turn. Written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Steve McNiven, with inks by Dexter Vines and colors by Morry Hollowell, this issue captures the emotional weight and high stakes of Peter’s everyday struggles, all under a striking cover by Phil Jimenez and Andy Lanning.

Aunt May pushes Peter to find a job, but due to his spotty work record in his previous employment, he finds this hard to do. Peter goes to a club on New Year's Eve with Harry and friends but he is mugged by a guy in a Spider-Man mask. Peter follows the thug right into the FEAST building where he finds Aunt May volunteering at Martin Li's homeless relief operations. Badly in need of some cash, Peter heads to the Daily Bugle not knowing that Jonah is in the midst of handling a buyout crisis. When J. Jonah Jameson refuses to pay Peter, Pete lays into him and watches as Jameson has a heart attack.
