The Amazing Spider-Man #556
Part of the "Brand New Day" era, Amazing Spider-Man #556 presents one of the more quietly striking covers of 2008 — Spider-Man, a small solitary figure in red and blue, trudging through a vast, blinding blizzard that nearly swallows him whole. The scale of the snowstorm against the wall-crawler's diminished form gives the image an almost meditative weight, with Chris Bachalo and Tim Townsend using swirling white space to powerful effect. Writer Zeb Wells joins the creative team for "The Last Nameless Day," and if the cover is any indication, this arc is leaning into something colder and more atmospheric than your average Spider-Man adventure.
