The issue was written by Dan Slott with interior art, inking, and penciling by Marcos Martín (colored by Javier Rodriguez, lettered by Cory Petit), with a cover by Ed McGuinness colored by Morry Hollowell; Stephen Wacker edited, with Tom Brennan as assistant editor. It appeared on sale May 14, 2008, squarely within the Brand New Day initiative in which Marvel replaced the traditional single-writer model with a rotating 'Brain Trust' of writers — including Slott, Marc Guggenheim, Zeb Wells, Joe Kelly, and others — and pushed the title to a thrice-monthly publishing cadence, one of the most ambitious production schedules in modern mainstream comics. The issue opens Part 1 of the three-part 'Peter Parker: Paparazzi!' arc ('The Money Shot'), which recontextualizes Peter's financial desperation as a storytelling engine by placing him in the morally uncomfortable role of celebrity photographer for Dexter Bennett's rebranded Daily Bugle, now called The DB!
