“Brand New Day [Part 1]”

In "Brand New Day [Part 1]," Peter Parker struggles to balance his life as Spider-Man with the pressure to find stable work, leading him to a New Year’s Eve outing that takes a dangerous turn when he’s mugged by someone wearing a Spider-Man mask. The chase leads him straight to the FEAST building, where he’s shocked to find Aunt May volunteering with Martin Li’s homeless relief efforts. Later, desperate for money, Peter returns to the Daily Bugle—only to confront a crisis of his own when J. Jonah Jameson, facing a buyout, refuses to pay him, triggering a moment that leaves Peter stunned and shaken. Written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Steve McNiven, with inks by Dexter Vines and colors by Morry Hollowell, the issue’s striking cover by McNiven and Vines captures the tension of a turning point in Peter’s life.

Aunt May pushes Peter to find a job, but due to his spotty work record in his previous employment, he finds this hard to do. Peter goes to a club on New Year's Eve with Harry and friends but he is mugged by a guy in a Spider-Man mask. Peter follows the thug right into the FEAST building where he finds Aunt May volunteering at Martin Li's homeless relief operations. Badly in need of some cash, Peter heads to the Daily Bugle not knowing that Jonah is in the midst of handling a buyout crisis. When J. Jonah Jameson refuses to pay Peter, Pete lays into him and watches as Jameson has a heart attack.
