The Amazing Spider-Man #560
Part of the "Brand New Day" era, Amazing Spider-Man #560 finds a battered, costume-torn Spider-Man bracing himself against a giant pop-art panel depicting a tearful, wide-eyed blue-haired woman declaring dramatic devotion — "Oh Bobby, they could never love you the way I could… never! Never!!!" The contrast between Spidey's street-level scruffiness and the bold Lichtenstein-inspired backdrop makes for one of the more visually inventive covers of 2008, courtesy of Marcos Martín and colorist Javier Rodríguez. Dan Slott's "Peter Parker, Paparazzi: Flat Out Crazy" promises the kind of sharp, playful storytelling that made this run so enjoyable.
