George Edward Papp was born on January 20, 1916, and died on August 8, 1989. An American comics artist, he is best remembered as a principal artist on DC Comics' long-running *Superboy* series. Papp entered the industry in the 1940s, and his clean, energetic style became a defining visual element of the Superboy mythos for decades. He is also notable for co-creating two enduring DC characters: Green Arrow, with writer Mort Weisinger, and Congo Bill, with writer Whitney Ellsworth. Over a career spanning from 1940 to 1994, Papp is credited as artist, inker, or writer on 145 issues, with his most frequent credits appearing in *Superboy*, *Adventure Comics*, *World's Finest Comics*, and *Superman*. His work is characterized by a straightforward, dynamic storytelling approach that suited the adventure and superhero genres. Papp’s legacy lies in his foundational contributions to the Silver Age of comics, particularly through his steady hand on the *Superboy* feature and his role in launching two characters who would become staples of the DC universe.
