“The Superman Story!”

In "The Superman Story!" from World's Finest Comics #37 (1948), Green Arrow and Speedy crash-land on a mysterious, fog-shrouded island where centuries of isolation have left its people equally skilled in archery. With their reputations tarnished by the deceitful Flyer Fleer, the heroes must survive in an abandoned castle while uncovering the island's strange secrets—where gold is so plentiful it's used for common objects, and a hidden treasure of coal is revealed. Written by Otto Binder and illustrated by George Papp, with a cover by Win Mortimer, this 1948 adventure blends mystery and classic heroism in a world unlike any they’ve known.

The Green Arrow and Speedy follow Flyer Fleer's aircraft in the Arrowplane. Both craft crash land on an island shrouded in fog and hidden from the outside world for centuries. Fleer convinces the inhabitants tht the mask-wearing archer heroes are criminals and that he is a lawman. All of the natives are equal in archery skill to our heroes, who take refuge in an abandoned castle. Fleer is shown the location of their treasure, which turns out to be coal. Gold is so common they make everyday objects from it. Green Arrow tunes in the Arrowplane's radio which names Fleer as a criminal.
