Yuriko Oyama
The daughter of Japanese scientist Lord Dark Wind, inventor of the adamantium-bonding process, Yuriko Oyama was transformed into the cyborg assassin Lady Deathstrike after subjecting herself to her father's procedure, fusing adamantium to her skeleton and replacing her hands with razor-edged finger blades.
Yuriko Oyama burst onto the Marvel scene in 1986's Alpha Flight #33, conjured by Bill Mantlo and Sal Buscema at the height of the Copper Age, and she has never stopped making her presence felt across four decades of comics. A member of both the X-Men and the savage Reavers, she's most at home in the brutal, high-stakes pages of Uncanny X-Men, Weapon X, and Wolverine, where she keeps electrifying company alongside Wolverine, Logan, Storm, and the ferocious Victor Creed. With 138 catalog appearances and three collector-recognized key issues to her name, Yuriko Oyama is a figure whose longevity speaks for itself β a Copper Age creation who has grown only more formidable with time, and an essential piece of Marvel's darker, harder-edged mythology.
