Platinum

90 appearances · Silver Age · 1962–2025 · 4 key issues
Who is Platinum?

Created by scientist Dr. Will Magnus, Platinum — nicknamed 'Tina' — is a sophisticated robot built from the element platinum and brought to life by a device called a Responsometer, which grants her a distinct personality. She became a founding member of the Metal Men, a team of element-based robots.

Few Silver Age creations have proven as enduringly charming as Platinum, who first graced the pages of Tales of the Unexpected #70 in 1962 under the hands of Jack Schiff and Win Mortimer. A DC original through and through, she's spent over six decades sharing adventures with a remarkable roster — Iron, Lead, Gold, Tin, and even The Flash have all kept her company across the pages of Metal Men, Wednesday Comics, and The Brave and the Bold. With four key issues to her name and 90 catalog appearances spanning 1962 to 2025, she's no footnote — she's a genuine Silver Age survivor with real staying power. If you've never explored her corner of the DC universe, those Metal Men issues are a wonderful place to start.
