Dust
Sooraya Qadir is a devout Afghan mutant whose power to transform her body into a deadly, cutting cloud of dust manifested when she instinctively used it to escape a slave trader. Rescued by the X-Men, she enrolled at Xavier's school to hone her abilities alongside fellow young mutants.
Few Modern Age Marvel debuts carry the quiet power of Dust, who first materialized in Grant Morrison and Ethan Van Sciver's New X-Men #133 in 2002 and has been a compelling presence in the X-Men corner of the Marvel Universe ever since. With four key issues to their name and a run stretching across more than two decades β from New X-Men through Young X-Men and into Champions β this is a character whose staying power speaks for itself. Along the way, Dust has shared the page with heavy-hitters like Wolverine, Cyclops, and Rockslide, moving through some of Marvel's most dynamic ensemble storytelling. Fifty-four catalog appearances and still going strong: if you haven't followed Dust's journey yet, now is the perfect time to start.
