“Childhood's End Part 1 of 4”

"Childhood's End Part 1 of 4" marks a pivotal moment in the New X-Men series, as the aftermath of M-Day shatters the lives of Xavier’s students. With mutant powers suddenly gone, Kevin’s accidental harm to Laurie sends shockwaves through the school, forcing Emma and the Cuckoos to intervene with their telepathy to restore order. Written by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, with dynamic art by Mark Brooks and inks by Jaime Mendoza, this issue captures the emotional weight of a world where power—and identity—are no longer guaranteed. The cover, also by Mark Brooks, reflects the quiet tension of a school on the edge.

It is M-Day and most of the kids at Xavier's wake up to learn they have lost their mutant abilities. Believing his powers to be gone, Kevin touches Laurie and withers her arm. With panic and mayhem rippling through the school, Emma and the Cuckoos use their telepathy to cause everyone to go to sleep so the mess can be sorted out. Two days later, a powerless Dani is asked to resign as all humans will soon be required to leave. Wolverine calls X-23 and asks her to come home and help. Two weeks later, Emma opens the front door and learns that Jay has had his wings amputated.
