About the series

Marvel's Sgt. Fury ran from 1963 to 1974, chronicling the World War II exploits of the Howling Commandos, a tough, multi-ethnic squad led by Sergeant Nick Fury. Co-created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the series was a gritty, action-packed war comic that balanced battlefield heroics with character-driven camaraderie, largely sustained by the prolific art of Dick Ayers and John Severin. It established Fury's pre-SHIELD origin and remains a foundational piece of Marvel's wartime storytelling.
