“Death For a Dollar!”

Death for a Dollar!" puts the Howling Commandos in the thick of a brawl against mob enforcers, with Fury and his crew trading punches and gunfire across what appears to be a counterfeiting operation — the cover's speech bubbles warn that phony cash could wreck the Allied invasion. John Romita's cover work crackles with kinetic energy, bodies flying and fists connecting as multiple Howlers clash with suited and uniformed opponents in a chaotic melee. This 1972 Marvel entry is a fine showcase for the series' blend of wartime stakes and street-level action, with Gary Friedrich, Dick Ayers, Vince Colletta, and John Costanza rounding out a solid creative team inside.
