Sgt. Fury #116
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis November 1973 Marvel issue splits its cover into two vivid scenes: on the left, a pair of Howling Commandos crawl through a battlefield under fire, trading quips about where their sergeant might be, while on the right, Nick Fury is shown brawling underwater with a helmeted enemy frogman — the cover cheekily answering its own dramatic question ("Is this the End of the Road for Nick Fury??") with the punchline that he's off "havin' himself a ball." Dick Ayers handles both pencils and inks here, and the dual-panel layout does a fine job of capturing the Commandos' camaraderie alongside Fury's solo, fists-first brand of soldiering. At just 20 cents, this one packs a lot of action and personality into a single cover.
