Kim Yale
Kim Yale (November 22, 1953 – March 7, 1997) was an American comic book writer and editor, best known for her work at DC Comics, where she co-created the modern version of the character Manhunter. Born in the United States, Yale began her career in the late 1980s, contributing to a range of publishers including DC, Eclipse, First, Marvel, and WaRP Graphics. She is most closely associated with the *Suicide Squad* series, where she collaborated with writer John Ostrander on storylines that deepened the book's political and psychological complexity. Together, they also co-created the female Manhunter, Kate Spencer, and worked on *Deadshot* and *The Comet*. Yale’s writing was known for its sharp dialogue and nuanced character work, often focusing on morally ambiguous figures. She also edited and wrote for the *ElfQuest* spin-off *Kahvi*. Her career was cut short by her death from cancer in 1997 at age 43. Though she did not receive major industry awards during her lifetime, her contributions to the *Suicide Squad* mythos and her role in shaping a key DC legacy character have been increasingly recognized by fans and historians.
