Manhunter #9
Manhunter #9 ties into DC's sweeping "Invasion Aftermath" crossover, and the cover by Doug Rice captures the tension perfectly: Manhunter himself comes hurtling forward in his striking red-and-black costume, staff in hand, while a tiny scarlet-clad speedster — unmistakably the Flash — races across a swirling cascade of pink and yellow speed lines below. It's a dynamic contrast of scale and motion that sets up "Flash Point, Part 2" with real energy. With the story by John Ostrander and Kim Yale and interior art by Frank Springer and Pablo Marcos, this January 1989 issue is a satisfying chapter in one of DC's more underappreciated series.
