Jun 1989 · DC · 1.00 USD; 1.25 CAD; 0.50 GBP
“[The Janus Directive, Part 10]: Endgame”

In "The Janus Directive, Part 10: Endgame," the Suicide Squad faces off against Kobra’s final gambit as global agencies unite to stop his pulse cannon and space ark—only for President Bush to reorganize the entire meta-human defense structure in the aftermath. With Sarge Steel now leading covert ops and Eiling overseeing military efforts, Checkmate is folded into Task Force X while Waller retains control of the Squad, on the condition she stays in line. Written by John Ostrander and Kim Yale, with dynamic art by John K. Snyder III and Karl Kesel, and colored by Carl Gafford, this 1989 issue delivers high-stakes espionage and bureaucratic upheaval, all wrapped in a cover by Karl Kesel.

Kobra's plans are foiled by the various government agencies as they work together to stop his pulse cannon and destroy his space ark. As Kobra was able to easily manipulate the different government agencies into mistrusting and fighting with each other, President Bush decides a little restructuring is in order. Sarge Steel is put in charge of all covert meta-human operations and Eiling is put in charge of all military meta-human operations. Checkmate is removed from Task Force X and absorbs Project Peacemaker. Waller is left in charge of the Suicide Squad as long as she promises to behave.
