Colin MacNeil
1950–
Colin MacNeil, born in 1950, is a British comics artist most closely associated with the pages of *2000 AD*, where he has been a defining visual presence since the late 1980s. He is best known for his work on Judge Dredd and its extended universe, contributing to series such as *Shimura* and *Devlin Waugh*. MacNeil’s style is characterized by a gritty, detailed linework and a strong sense of atmosphere, which made him a natural fit for the dystopian streets of Mega-City One. Over a career spanning from 1989 to 2023, he has been credited as artist, colorist, and inker on more than 120 issues, with his work appearing in *Judge Dredd Megazine*, *Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection*, and various collected editions. Beyond comics, he has also illustrated cards for the *Magic: The Gathering* collectible card game. While his collaborations with writers like John Wagner and Alan Grant are well known, MacNeil’s own visual storytelling has left a lasting imprint on the character and the *2000 AD* anthology. He remains a respected figure in British comics, with his later work continuing to appear in special collections and reprint series.
