“Tour of Duty: Gore City Part Four”

Prog 1666 of 2000 AD arrives with one of the more disarmingly odd cover images the Galaxy's Greatest Comic had to offer in 2010 — a sharp-suited, steely-eyed man holding an ice cream cone aloft against a split backdrop of a breezy British seaside promenade on one side and a brooding, fiery sky on the other, all rendered in Simon Davis's loose, painterly style. The cover tease asks who's behind "the bloody horror of Blacksands," promising that Ampney Crucis investigates — a setup that makes the ice cream feel both mundane and faintly sinister. Inside, John Wagner and Colin MacNeil continue "Tour of Duty: Gore City Part Four," with colors by Chris Blythe and lettering by Annie Parkhouse rounding out the creative team.
