Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files #35
In "A Walk in the Park," Judge Dredd’s brief reprieve from duty takes an unexpected turn when he’s pulled into a firefight with a rogue citidef unit, derailing his plan to see his niece Vienna Pasternak perform in *Charles III* at The Megalopolis theatre. Written by John Wagner and illustrated by Colin MacNeil—whose distinctive art and inks define the issue’s stark, relentless tone—this story captures Dredd’s rare, personal moment amid the chaos of Mega-City One. The cover by Jock adds a striking, atmospheric edge to the issue’s mood.

After sentencing Gladys Ecks to eighteen months' imprisonment for welfare fraud and shoplifting, Judge Dredd recalls his intention to watch his niece, Vienna Pasternak (whose parents he killed when she was a small child), perform in a play - 'Charles III' - at The Megalopolis theatre. Although he requests three hours of downtime to see the play, he ends up using it to assist two judges pinned down by a rogue citidef (city defense) unit and arrives too late at the theatre to catch up with Vienna. His downtime up, he proceeds to his next case.
