Bryan Talbot was born on 24 February 1952 in the United Kingdom. He is best known as the creator of *The Adventures of Luther Arkwright* and its sequels *Heart of Empire* and *The Legend of Luther Arkwright*, as well as the *Grandville* series of books. Talbot entered comics in the mid-1970s, working as an artist, writer, colorist, inker, and letterer across 135 issues from 1975 to 2024. His most credited titles include *The Adventures of Luther Arkwright*, *Spellbinders*, *Grandville*, *Heart of Empire*, *Neil Gaiman's Teknophage*, and *Neil Gaiman's Phage: Shadow Death*. He collaborated with his wife, Mary M. Talbot, on *Dotter of Her Father's Eyes*, which won the 2012 Costa Biography Award. Talbot's work is known for its intricate linework and detailed world-building, often blending science fiction with historical and political themes. He continues to be a significant figure in British comics, with a legacy that includes pioneering independent graphic novels and influencing later creators.
