Fables #11
Bill Willingham's Fables #11 continues Vertigo's celebrated series with "Bag O' Bones," and the cover by Aron Wiesenfeld sets a genuinely unsettling tone — rendered in stark black and white with only the blood-red series logo bleeding down the page, a wide-eyed figure recoils in terror, hands raised against a window, while a menacing silhouette carrying an axe looms outside in the wintry darkness. It's a beautifully composed image that captures the series' talent for weaving fairy-tale dread into something quietly modern and deeply effective. Bryan Talbot brings his sharp linework to the interior pages, making this 2003 issue a strong chapter in one of Vertigo's most talked-about ongoing titles.
