Adriana Melo

Adriana Melo is a Brazilian comic book artist, colorist, and penciller, born in 1976. She is best known for her dynamic, expressive work across major publishers, with a career spanning from 1995 to the present and over 125 credited issues. Melo’s path into comics saw her rise through the Brazilian market before landing work on US titles, where she became a sought-after artist for both superhero and licensed properties.
Her signature style—clean, energetic linework with a strong sense of character emotion—has graced series such as *Star Wars: Empire*, *Birds of Prey*, *Rose & Thorn*, *Witchblade*, and *Ms. Marvel*. She collaborated frequently with writer Gail Simone, notably on a six-issue *Plastic Man* miniseries in 2018. Other key credits include *Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Ongoing*, *Female Furies*, and *Catwoman*.
Melo contributed to the anthology *Puerto Rico Strong*, which won the 2019 Eisner Award for Best Anthology. Her later work continues to appear in both mainstream and independent projects, cementing her reputation as a versatile, reliable storyteller in modern comics.
