Birds of Prey #89

This February 2006 installment of Gail Simone's Birds of Prey delivers a menacing cover — courtesy of penciler Adriana Melo and inker Will Conrad — in which a chained figure in blue is swarmed by a pack of snarling, spike-collared hounds while a hulking red villain looms behind them and a blue-suited figure leaps in from above. The tagline "Send in the Hounds!" makes the threat perfectly clear, setting a tense, propulsive tone for "Perfect Pitch Part Three." With art by Paulo Siqueira and inks by Robin Riggs bringing the interior to life, this is a solid chapter in one of DC's most consistently engaging team books of the era.
